Safe Adam: One Day. Download Mp3 | Lyrics
It’s been a while since Safe Adam released a new song. Therefore, those new to Nasheeds may not be familiar with the artist.
So, who is Safe Adam?
Safe Adam is a Nasheed artist / Islamic musician who sings faith inspired music. Safe started his career in non-Islamic music, as a writer for huge mainstream artists such as Ed Sheeran and N-Dubz. But, he moved away from the mainstream and switched his attention to Islamic or faith-inspired songs.
Safe’s previous hits include ‘Shukran Allah‘, ‘By My Side‘ and ‘Might Not Be Right‘ (Also featuring Waqas from Outlandish). However, this one is different.
How?
‘One Day’ is a vocals only Nasheed. And, there will be no music version.
In fact, in an interview with Naeem Raza on Islam Channel, Safe mentioned that he would be releasing a music version of the Nasheed.
However, on October 28th 2021, Safe posted the following announcement on his social media:
That’s right. Safe Adam is now a Vocals only Nasheed artist!
This is great news to many Muslims. Because, many Muslims consider Music to be unlawful in the religion.
As owner of a website with the words ‘Islam’ and ‘music’ in the title, I know all to well how passionate people get about this subject. For those interested, i’ve written a longer post about Music in Islam, where I make references to the arguments both for and against music in Islam.
Did you know – Safe Adam is performing live in the UK on the Night of Vocals tour? Along with artists such as Siedd and Ilyas Mao.
So, let’s analyse the Nasheed.
What is this Nasheed about?
One Day is a positive song about hope. For example, the hope that people will stop fighting, live in peace and end war.
Alone with his thoughts.
It’s almost as if Safe Adam is laying down in his bed and we’re ease dropping into his thoughts and vision.
From the music video, we learn that the lyrics are referencing one conflict in particular, the Palestinian conflict. However, the word Palestine is never used, perhaps because the song can apply to multiple situations all over the world.
A number of other songs exist that are specific to the Palestine conflict, learn more about my top 10 songs about Palestine.
One day children will play safely, one day fighting will end, one day war will be over.
So, let’s take a look at the music video:
One Day Music Video
The music video is made up of a series of photos, illustrations and short video clips, mainly revolving around Masjid Al-Aqsa and the old city of Jerusalem.
Safe Adam may well have taken the clips himself when working on the ‘One night in Al-Aqsa‘ documentary film. However, I cannot say for sure.
We see footage of the Old City of Jerusalem, a city that has been preserved in its original state since historic times.
Furthermore, we see footage of people praying inside the Al-Aqsa Mosque, in particular the Al-Qibli Mosque, which is the name of the Mosque under the grey dome. One can argue they are praying in peace, a symbol of how things should be at all times.
Occasionally, short clips of Churches and Synagogues are shown, while the anchoring lyrics speak about ‘no fighting’ and ‘no war’ – clever and subtle.
The video is simple. Yet, I believe it matches the lyrics perfectly.
Additionally, I had the opportunity to travel to Al-Aqsa with my wife and loved the experience. So, please take some time to view our summary video / radio show of the trip:
One Day Lyrics
Sometimes I lay under the moon
And thank God I’m breathing
Then I say, I’m here for you
‘Cause I am here for reason
Sometimes in my tears I drown
But I never let it get me down
So when negativity surrounds
I know some day it’ll all turn around
All my life I’ve been waiting for
I’ve been praying for
For the people to say
That we don’t wanna fight no more
There’ll be no more war
And our children will play
One day, one day, one day, oh
One day, one day, one day, oh
It’s not about win or lose, we all lose
When they feed on the souls of the innocent Blood-drenched pavement
Keep on moving though the waters stay raging
In this maze you can lose your way, your way
It might drive you crazy but
Don’t let it faze you, no way,
Sometimes in my tears I drown
But I never let it get me down
So when negativity surrounds
I know some day it’ll all turn around
All my life I’ve been waiting for
I’ve been praying for
For the people to say
That we don’t wanna fight no more
There’ll be no more war
And our children will play
One day, one day, one day, oh
One day, one day, one day
Final Thoughts on ‘One Day’
I’m a huge fan of this track. Because, the tune is simple yet the lyrics are powerful.
Additionally, my favourite elements of the song are the clips of Jerusalem within the music video. Because, it reminds me of my journey to the holy land.
But, I would have liked to see more clips of Al-Aqsa.
Regardless, it’s a great track overall!
