There are over 100 Prayer Rooms and Mosques in Manchester, including Oldham, Salford and Ashton. However, searching for ‘Mosque’ on Google maps might not show them all.
Because, some of them are prayer spaces hidden within other venues.
For example, did you know that there is a prayer room inside the Emirates Stadium and the Old Trafford Shopping centre? Finding these can be tricky.
So, I created a map of every prayer room and Mosque in Manchester.
Furthermore, the map includes prayer rooms inside Universities, Hospitals and Shopping Centres.
But, are they open to women?
For each Mosque, I have specified whether it is open to women/sisters or if it is for men/brothers only.

This Mosque is open for daily prayers from 12pm. But, closes shortly after Isha.

Arndale Shopping Centre Prayer Room (Currently Closed)
Is there a prayer room inside the Arndale shopping centre in Manchester? Yes.
Manchester Arndale has a private multi-faith prayer room situated on the lower mall opposite the Shopmobility unit. Customers of all faiths are invited to use the room for prayer, multi-faith worship or a quiet space.
To access the room, please use the intercom system to contact a member of the Manchester Arndale team
However, the room has been closed due to Covid, and it is unclear when this will re-open.

Shair-e-Rabbani Islamic Centre and Mosque
The Mosque is located on the third floor and entrance is next to a cafe, it’s easy to miss. See photo for the door, it’s the white one with the number 4 on either side.
It may look a little run down from the outside. However, the Mosque has great reviews on Google and it’s difficult to find a Masjid in a central location.

University of Manchester Prayer Rooms
There are two prayer rooms inside the Uni of Manchester buildings.
Sackville Street Building – Part of the University of Manchester Islamic Society. However, this prayer room is open to staff and students only.
Mcdougall Building – Further south. Part of the University of Manchester. However, it’s for staff and students only.

Some Google reviews suggest this Mosque is ran by the Shia community. However, they allow anyone to pray Salah in the room and have great ratings.

Manchester Met University Prayer Rooms
There are two prayer rooms inside Manchester Metropolitan University.
The Cavendish Prayer Room is the largest of their two prayer facilities and includes prayer rooms for men and women, and washing facilities.
Also, a dedicated prayer room is located in the Brooks Building, room 3.71.
Both rooms are for staff and students only. Furthermore, Jummah services are provided.

Abu Bakar Mosque
Small Mosque however it’s clean and friendly. Reviews suggest to use the back door in order to enter the building. Due to it’s size it is unlikely that the Mosque accommodates women.

Manchester Royal Infirmary Prayer Room
The Multi-faith Centre is located on the ground floor of the new Manchester Royal Infirmary by Entrance 2, off the Hospital Boulevard. We provide a large multi-purpose space for prayer and worship with a range of services throughout the week.
There are two Multi Faith Prayer Rooms in the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital. One is on the ground floor opposite the Children’s Outpatients Department and the other is on the first floor near to Paediatric Intensive Care.

A Mosque and cultural centre established in 2011.
The Mosque offers 5 times congregational prayers, Friday and Eid prayers. Furthermore, they have a sisters section for Friday prayers, Eid prayers and the night prayers of Ramadan.
Additionally, the MICC aims to deliver to the needs of the community through services such as classes, talks and other events.
The Friday sermons (called Khutbah in Arabic) are delivered in Kurdish, Arabic and English.

Masjid-E-Hidayah is situated in the multi-cultural area of Old Trafford in Manchester. Alhamdulillah the new Mosque is fully completed and has been open since May 2012. The original masjid was opened 8th of March 1987 which is now used as the Madrassa and function hall.

However, a number of reviews suggest that the toilets need modernisation. So, it is advised to do Wudu at home

Old Trafford Cricket Ground Prayer Room
Does Old Trafford have a prayer room? Yes. Old Trafford Cricket Ground has a prayer room available for anyone watching a game. Cricket grounds usually allow fans to leave and come back in. However, there is no need as the ground itself has prayer facilities.
The Cricket stadium’s prayer room is located in the Trafford Cricket Centre, behind Stand C.

Manchester Airport Prayer Rooms
Is there a prayer room inside Manchester airport? Yes. In fact, there are four prayer rooms insite Manchester Airport.
So, how do you find them?
Four multi-faith prayer rooms serve Manchester Airport and remain open to everyone 24 hours a day.
With the exception of a sign to indicate Qibla (the direction of Mecca) to assist Muslim users, wherever possible, Multi-Faith Prayer Rooms are kept deliberately free from religious symbolism in order to enable as many as possible to use the rooms for prayer. Christian, Jewish, Muslim and other sacred texts and prayer books are provided by the Chaplaincy and prayer mats are available for Muslims. Users are asked not to leave any literature in the prayer room. A book for comments and prayer requests is provided in each of the prayer rooms.
Jummah Prayers (Islamic) are held in the Terminal 3 Prayer Room
Friday at 13:00 GMT, 13:30 BST.
Terminal 1 Prayer Room
Located in Terminal 1 next to the Chaplaincy’s main office at Ground Level Check-In, and at Gate 20 after security.
Terminal 2 Prayer Room (Departures)
The Multi-Faith Prayer Room in Terminal 2 is situated next to the Apiary.
Terminal 2 Prayer Room (Arrivals)
Located on the main arrivals concourse at Ground Level, and is easily accessible by the public. Furthermore, it is conveniently located near to the Chaplaincy’s Terminal 2 office.
Terminal 3 Prayer Room
Located to the right of the building (from the kerbside), on the first floor above Spar (below Departure level, above Arrivals).
Wudu/Wash Facilities
Special washing facilities are available before and after security in Terminal 2 and in Terminal 3

The prayer room is located on Upper Regent Crescent (First Floor) near the Next shop.
The Prayer room was previously closed for COVID. However, a recent tweet from the Trafford Centre in December 2021 confirmed that the prayer room is back open.

Fairly new Mosque in the Salford area. Finally, Muslims in Salford have a place to pray. The Khutbah is in both Arabic and English. However, it’s a small Mosque above a shop and unlikely to have space for Women.

The Hazrat Sultan Bahu Trust is a registered charity founded in 1983 by Sheikh Sultan Fiaz ul Hassan and Sheikh Sultan Niaz ul Hassan Sarwari Qadri.

It is one of the largest Muslim centres in Europe. The Mosque is open to all men and women, and its main prayer halls currently hold between 2,500 and 3,000 people during a Friday service, with over 15,000 worshippers walking through the Mosque’s doors during the multiple services held on the religious festivals of Eid.
