Ahmad Ikhlas: Nabi Taha Download | Lyrics
Ever heard of a Reggae Nasheed? You have now!
Ahmad Ikhlas is an international Dub Poet, reggae and garage musician. He combines his Jamaican heritage and British upbringing to form a unique style of Islamic music and poetry.
He’s a revert.
Before converting to Islam, Ahmad Ikhlas (Marlon Gray back then) was an underground Garage artist who performed under the name Mc Meelos.
Ahmad took shahada at the age of 17 and left music altogether. It took a decade for Ahmad to come back to the music scene, however he now produces positive Islamic music in his unique cultural style. It was actually well-known artist UK-Apache who invited Ahmad to the Mosque, which helped get the ball rolling.
Who Does Nabi Taha Refer to?
The word ‘Nabi’ means prophet in the Arabic language, so who is Prophet Taha?
Prophet Muhammed (PBUH).
Surah Taha in the Quran begins in a unique way, without Bismillah. Instead, Allah speaks directly to the prophet Muhammed (PBUH). As a result, the name Taha is sometimes used to refer to the prophet Muhammed (PBUH) or anyone who is righteous.
The word Taha is simply made up of two letters of the alphabet, Ta and Ha.
It’s a simple song which sends praise and blessing upon the prophet. The music video and lyrics have been presented below, along with an analysis of the lyrics calling out any direct or indirect references to Quran and Hadith.
As always our rating can be found at the bottom of this post, and there is also the chance for you to leave your own rating of this song and provide comments.
Nabi TaHa Music Video
The video features Ahmad Ikhlas singing in what looks like a typical British park, perhaps in South London where he resides.
Occasional shots of the main Masjid in Medina are shown, as this is considered as the prophet’s Mosque and also his burial place (under the green dome).
Lyrics to Muad’s ‘Nabi Taha’ below.

Lyrics Analysis
References to the Quran and Hadith have been numbered above, and explained in this section.
1 – We should send praise upon the Prophet… because Allah asks us to
Send praise pon Di Nabi TaHa
Ever wondered why people send praise on the Prophet, despite him passing away? This is actually a request from Allah in the Quran.
“Surely Allah and His angels bless the Prophet; O you who believe call for (Divine) blessings on him and salute him with a (becoming) salutation.”
(Quran 33:56)
Sending praise upon the prophet is also something we do during every prayer, it’s the part where we are on our knees reciting the Darood Sharif. Not only do we send blessing upon the prophet Muhammed (PBUH) but prophet Abraham (PBUH) too.
“O Allah, let Your Blessings come upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, as you have blessed Ibrahim and his family. Truly, You are Praiseworthy and Glorious. Allah, bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, as you have blessed Ibrahim and his family. Truly, You are Praiseworthy and Glorious”.
Darood Sharif Translation
2 – Ahmad is a short version of Muhammed
Muhammad Ahmad Mahmood
Those of us with Ahmad (sometimes spelled Ahmed) should consider ourselves lucky. Ahmad is actually a short version of the name of the prophet Muhammed (PBUH).
Did you know Jesus (PBUH) is said to have prophesised the coming of Muhammed in the Bible? The Quran confirms this and refers to him as ‘Ahmad’ in the verse.
And ˹remember˺ when Jesus, son of Mary, said, “O children of Israel! I am truly Allah’s messenger to you, confirming the Torah which came before me, and giving good news of a messenger after me whose name will be Aḥmad.” Yet when the Prophet came to them with clear proofs, they said, “This is pure magic.”
(Quran 61:6)
3 – The prophet Muhammed (PBUH) is the final messenger
Dun know say TaHa ah di seal of DEM ALL
The seal refers to Muhammed (PBUH) being the final prophet after a long chain.
“Muhammad is not the father of any of your men, but (he is) the Messenger of Allah, and the Seal of the Prophets: and Allah has full knowledge of all things.”
(Quran 33:40)
Final Thoughts
I love Nasheeds that challenge the stereotype, and Nabi TaHa does just that.
