That’s Haram by Karter Zaher – Former Deen Squad Member

Karter Zaher: That’s Haram Download | Lyrics

Karter Zaher just released a new original song… that’s Haram

Perhaps titled as a backlash to those who hold the opinion that music is Haram, ‘Thats Haram’ is a fast paced song with a hip-hop beat.

Is he still part of Deen Squad?

No. Karter Zaher has left Deen Squad and is now producing music as a solo artist. In fact, Karter posted a Youtube video explaining that he had problems with the band and decided to leave as a result.

We don’t discuss personal issues on Islamic Music Hub, rather we focus on explaining positive Islamic lyrics. However, those who wish to understand why he left Deen Squad can do so below:

Deen Squad kicked me out...

It’s Haram Music Video

The song released on 15th Jan 2021. However, there is no official music video at the moment.

Despite this, Karter has uploaded the song to his Youtube channel with a cartoon backdrop.

The cartoon image indicates the song is about standing up to those who criticise everything in life. We all know people who believe anything modern is Haram, whether it’s phones, TV, music etc.

Whether or not these items are actually Haram is another topic but for the most part the answer is – it depends.

Lyrics to Kater Zaher’s ‘That’s Haram’ below.

That’s Haram Lyrics

[Verse 1]

If I ever kill one, its a pig
I’m the bomb, it’s no wonder why they call me terrorist
No Quran, but I’ll teach you how to speak Arabic
I’m the Don, Corleone. It’s a quarter till its dawn
Fast life, you can call it Ramadan lil man
Is that a song lil man? That’s haram lil man
Muzzy fresh up off the block, Thobe longer than a crop
Damn – K about to Pop, you don’t gotta go Japan

[Hook]

Watch me
Stop me
You know Allah is by my side – 1 read analysis
Fled the war and I survived
Must be somethin’ in the sky watching…

[Verse 2]

Bootleg Gucci, call that shit Flucci
Fake smiles in the photos, call it blue cheese
I’m the guy from the Deen Squad, yea u knew me
Still prayin’ 5 times, still want the 4 wives
I just send a prayer, he get back at me in no time
Maybe it’s the WiFi, oh my!

Feelin so close to “eh”, I give him a high 5
Every time it goes right
Like when I didn’t work hunny… I got that CERB money
I hit the Masjid, lookin for a Bad chick
She heard of me, she want the word from me
But Where your Dad is, tell me where yo Dad is!
If I ever kill one, it’s a pig
I’m the bomb, it’s no wonder why they call me terrorist
Tell her father I’ll be rich, it’s a promise that I kept
I’m not a DOCTOR but Imma have your daughter real quick

[Hook]

Watch me…
Stop me…
You know Allah is by my side
Found a wifey for the ride
Must be somethin’ in the sky watching…
Watch me…

[Outro]

Is that a song lil man?
That’s Haram lil man
Is that a song lil man?
That’s Haram lil man
Is that a song lil man?
That’s Haram lil man
Is that a song lil man?
That’s Haram

Lyrics Analysis

References to the Quran and Hadith have been numbered above, and explained in this section.

1 – Allah tells us he is by our sides in the Quran

You know Allah is by my side

The reference used by Allah is that he is closer to us that our jugular vein. In fact, this is the core vein that runs blood to the brain.

“Indeed, ˹it is˺ We ˹Who˺ created humankind and ˹fully˺ know what their souls whisper to them, and We are closer to them than ˹their˺ jugular vein.”

(Quran 50:16)

Final Thoughts

It’s not a deep song for sure. I am not a fan of the negative language, such as the swear words.

On the other hand, I think there is an audience out there who will enjoy this type of music. It is likely that this group would be listening to non-Islamic music if songs like this were not created. Therefore, if this song brings people closer to Allah it’s a positive move.
