Maher Zain – True Love Lyrics
I long for a world so pure and free
I wish for others all I’d wish for me – 1
To live right, avoiding what is wrong
And focus everyday on the ultimate goal
Forever, what’s in my heart
Is all of the love from Allah
Chorus:
True love, it’s a gift
I will never let go of true love
I will give my body and soul for true love
Everyday in my heart I feel it grow
With true love, oh oh
True love, love, love yeah!
Each day
I’ll extend my hand
Give my all and do whatever I can
For a good life
Of joy and happiness – 2
Everything I do I start in His Name – 3
Forever, what’s in my heart
Is all of the love from Allah
CHORUS
Now raise your hands
And let’s be thankful to Allah – 4
True love!
Let’s forgive each other with all our hearts – 5
True love!
I never knew it would feel so good
Just being true to myself and true to You
CHORUS
Links to Quran / Hadith
1 I wish for others all I’d wish for me
We often think believing simply involves praying, however there is more to it. Having love for one another is required in order to be a believer.
“None of you will believe until you love for your brother what you love for yourself.” (Bukhari & Muslim)
2 For a good life Of joy and happiness
We are encouraged to smile and be happy in Islam:
“Sayyidina Abdullah ibn Harith ibn Jazz narrated. I did not see anyone smiling more than Allah’s Messenger“ (Jami’ Tirmidhi, The Book on Merits)
3 Everything I do I start in His Name
The chapters of the Quran begin with Bismillah ar-rahman ar-rahim: “In (or with) the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.”
4 And let’s be thankful to Allah
“Therefore remember Me (by praying, glorifying). I will remember you, and be grateful to Me (for My countless favours on you) and never be ungrateful to Me” (Quran 2:152)
5 Let’s forgive each other with all our hearts
This comes back to point 1.
Not only does Islam emphasis the importance of forgiveness, but other religious scripture also carry the same message.
“Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” (Bible Ephesians 4:32)
