Harris J: Eid Mubarak Download | MP3
This is a brilliant Eid song!
The track is taken from Harris’ debut album Salam, and features Pakistani singer Shujat Ali Khan.
Having such a strong track in position 8 on the album gives us an indication of the quality of Harris’ music. I’m sure we have all purchased an album due to a hit, only to find the rest of the disc filled with below average tracks – Harris has done extremely well to keep up the consistency.
Many well-known Nasheed artists have released songs about Eid – examples include Festival by Khaled Siddiq, Eid Mubarak by Safe Adam and Eid Song by Sami Yusuf.
The Eid track by Harris J is certainly one of the best.
It stands out from the others by having it’s chorus in Urdu, with the vocals of Shujat Ali Khan – and the melody is fantastic!
Not only does this track have a good melody but the lyrics are positive, focusing on the joys of Eid and how we should come together on this special day.
An analysis of the lyrics can be found below, but let’s have a listen to the song first.

Links to Quran / Hadith
Links to the Quran and hadith have been numbered above (in purple) and presented below.
1 Alhamdulillah, alhamdulillah (praise be to God)
The prophet Muhammed (pbuh) would say ‘Praise be to Allah’ on a number of occasions.
Narrated from A’ishah radi Allahu anha, “When the Prophet sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam saw something that pleased him, he would say: Alhamdulillahil lathee bi ni’matihi tatimmus saalihaat, and when he saw something that displeased him, he would say: Alhamdulillah ‘alaa kuli haal. (Narrated in Sunan Ibn Maajah, 265)
2 It’s time to celebrate, oh yeah!
The following Hadith refers to the day of Eid, the prophet encouraged celebration on this day.
It was narrated that ‘Aa’ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: The Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) came in and there were with me two young girls who were singing the songs of Bu‘aath. He lay down on the bed and turned his face away. Then Abu Bakr came in and rebuked me, saying: Singing of the Shaytaan in the presence of the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him)? The Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) turned to him and said: “Let them be.” When he turned away I signalled to them and they left. And on the day of Eid, the black men were playing with shields and spears. Either I asked the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) (to let me watch) or he said, “Do you want to watch?” and I said: Yes. So he made me stand behind him, with my cheek against his, and he was saying, “Carry on, O Banu Arfidah!” until I had had enough, then he said, “Have you had enough?” and I said yes, so he said, “Go then.” (Narrated by al-Bukhaari (907) and Muslim (892))
3 Embrace each other and win each other’s heart
Embracing one another is another important act for the day of Eid.
“It was narrated that Jubayr ibn Nufayr said: When the Companions of the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) met one another on the day of Eid, they would say to one another: “Taqabbal Allahu minna wa minkum (May Allah accept it from us and from you).”” (Al-Haafiz classed its isnaad as hasan in Fath al-Baari (2/517))
