Always There by Sultan & Mo Khan – A Soft Nasheed

Sultan x Mo Khan – Always There Legal MP3 Download | Lyrics

Released on January 1st 2022, ‘Always There’ is a soft, uplifting Nasheed by Sultan and Mo Khan.

In fact, this is the second time the two Nasheed artists have collaborated.

But who are they?

Who is Sultan Nasheeds?

Sultan is a London based voice only Nasheed artist, which basically means he makes songs… without the music!

Why?

Many hold the view that musical instruments are not allowed in Islam, although many scholars allow the Daf (a type of drum). There are a minority who take the view that all music is allowed as long as the lyrics are Islamic. Learn more about Music in Islam.

By removing music from his songs, Sultan has created a 100% Halal product that can be enjoyed by everyone.

And who is Mo Khan?

Mo Khan is a man of many talents. He is a Poet, Songwriter, Artist and Entrepreneur based in the UK.

In July 2021 Mo posted about the arrival of his new baby Omar Khan – so I guess that makes him a father too!

Mo Khan posted the following about working with Sultan:

It’s always more fun and enjoyable when working with friends! Our second collaboration! Was a pleasure working with the talented Sultan Nasheed’s, thank you for wanting me to be a part of this beautiful song and a special thanks to all those involved with this project!

Mo Khan

So, let’s talk about the new song ‘Always There’

‘Always There’ is a soft, emotional song about Allah and the fact that he is always there for you no matter what the situation.

Therefore, the song has one clear message: Never give up, and never loose trust in God.

The lyrics are genius when broken down. Because, there is reference to the oneness and greatness of Allah, there is advice and guidance for people who might be in tough situations and there are even references to at least three of the beautiful names of Allah (with their meaning too!).

We will discuss the lyrics in more detail in the lyrics section later on. But, let’s take a look at the music (or non-music) video first.

Always There Music Video

Sultan X Mo Khan - Always There - Official Video [ Vocals Only ]

00:00 – The video opens with a shot of Tower Bridge in London, followed by Sultan and Mo Khan standing near the river, ready to sing.

00:06 – The video now cuts to a car pulling up to a large manor house. Then, three boys emerge from the car. But, one of them looks sad and even lonely.

You can be lonely while with other people!

The lyrics strategically begin at this point: ‘In those dark moments, on your own, try to remember, you’re not alone’ – a brilliant way to anchor the footage.

00:43 – The main character keeps a distance from the other boys, who are taking photos and clearly enjoying the walk. A slow walker usually means something is up, either that individual is distracted or feeling down.

01:40 – He goes outside and glances at the moon, a beautiful creation of Allah.

01:56 – At this point we get a better idea of what might be happening. His two friends are praying their Isha prayer. However, the main character decides not to pray and heads straight to bed.

Perhaps he is loosing faith?

02:04 – The main character is laying down alone in bed, and comes across the Quran. But, when his friend calls him, he tells him he will be down shortly, perhaps because he is drawn towards reading a little Quran.

02:40 – The boys are sitting by the fire (I wonder how long it took to light that!), and the main character looks happier now. As it states in the Quran:

Only in the remembrance of Allah, do the hearts find rest

Quran 13:28

03:20 – Finally, the boys wake for Fajr only to find that their friend, who didn’t pray the night before, is already praying. It seems a little patience, and a little Quran has helped get his life back on track.

03:49 – The video ends with a quote:

(O Muhammad), when My servants ask you about Me, tell them I am quite near; I hear and answer the call of the caller whenever he calls Me. Let them listen to My call and believe in Me

Quran 2:186

Thank Allah for saving my life
Thank Allah for healing my mind
o Thank Allah for easing my trials
In these testing times
With these blessed rhymes

And ease that I find
Since professing my
Belief in your light
Though confessing I’m
Still weak but I try
To Progress and strive
My faith and my mind

From the Struggle and strife
To the puzzle that’s life
When there’s trouble I try
And pray for your assistance
struggle 5 times
A day and that’s consistent
Though I’ll never quit trust
And hope stay persistent
devil never gives up – 5 Read Analysis
But I, remain resistant

I said a prayer this morning, crack of dawnin
in your name I start my day
didn’t forsake me, from the days we

Were lost in our ways, going a stray

Helped me to break free, came and saved me!
Found strength within while showing the way
The guidance sent to me, meant to be
Now I’m content and life is going my way
Going my way
Going my way
The guidance sent to me, meant to be
Now I’m content and life is going my way

Chorus

Never give in to despair,
Allah’s Always There,
He knows what your going through,
Inside your heart
Al Baseer can see your tears
As-Samee can hear,
Ar-Raheem the one to heal and guide your heart

Lyrics Analysis for ‘Always There’

1 – Allah is with you

There are several verses in the Quran that specify Allah is always near. One of the most prominent can be found in Surah Baqarah:

(O Muhammad), when My servants ask you about Me, tell them I am quite near; I hear and answer the call of the caller whenever he calls Me. Let them listen to My call and believe in Me

(Quran 2:186)

2 – The Ever Living

Allah mentions he is ever-living in many places in the Quran.

Allah, there is no god except He, The EverLiving, The Superb Upright Sustainer.

(Quran 3:2)

3 – He is closer to you than you can ever know

There is a famous verse in the Quran where Allah describes just how close he is:

And indeed We have created man, and We know whatever thoughts his inner self develops, and We are closer to him than (his) jugular vein.”

(Quran 50:16)

The Quran may be implying that one should trust in God’s power; even at the most vulnerable point in your body (Jugular vein), Allah is there to protect you.

4 – Al Baseer can see your tears, As-samee can hear, Ar-Raheem the one to heal and guide your heart

Three references to the names of Allah, of which there are 99 (or more according to some)

Al Baseer – means the one who sees
As-Samee – means the one who hears
Ar-Raheem – means the Merciful

5 – Devil Never gives up

The Quran states the the Devil asked if he could tempt us until the day of judgement. He never gives up and won’t give up until then.

[Satan] said, “Reprieve me until the Day they are resurrected.” [Allah] said, “Indeed, you are of those reprieved.”

(Quran 7:14-15)

Final Thoughts on ‘Always There’

I really enjoyed listening and reviewing this one.

It’s got great meaning. However, I have heard other vocal only songs with a higher quality production.

Having said that, I really like the track and would listen on repeat!
